Kiln Hickory Vessel - 2022

This chunky vessel is made from a lump of log acquired during splitting wood for a wood kiln in September 2022. I thought it was interesting that a log intended to be used for firing ceramic vessels could be used to create a wood vessel. Maybe I'm just easily amused. 

This vessel is turned right through the center of a whole log, revealing the growth of the tree from sapling to when it was cut and reclaimed from tree work. The finish is pure all natural tung oil.

6 1/4" tall, 7 1/2" diameter.
